Burned alive and run over, another despicable animal cruelty incident in Moldova

According to Adopta.md, Moldovan adoption portal, charred remains of a stray dog were found in a school yard at Buiucani district of Chisinau.

The dog was burned alive, several distinctive pools of blood covered the ground nearby. The poor animal was then ran over by a motorcycle. Witnesses of the dreadful murder could not be found and the local residents could not establish with certainty whether it was one of the local dogs.

Police refused to come to the scene of one of the most despicable acts of animal cruelty that the Moldovan capital has ever seen. Chisinau police did not arrive in the 2 hours after the dog was found, calls on the next day were left unanswered. Knowing that Moldovan animal abusers go unpunished in the absence of an animal protection law, the sheer fact that police of the capital city of Chisinau refused to even register the incident is abhorrent.

Little lion dog

Natalia Nasa and her crew of dedicated people at the Live Life Dog Приют для бездомных собак/ программа ОСВ “Живи” – “Live Life” Dog Shelter rescued Leon and gave him love. The little one was injured and could not use his hind legs. He was to be given a trolley, a surprise present from Oxana. The trolley arrived from Germany the same day Leon died from a hemorrhagic stroke. Physically broken this little one still had much love to give people. Rest well little one…

Holidays donation appeal

Shura is a lovely, friendly and gentle young dog. She was a stray living on the streets of Moldova and had delivered a litter of puppies, all of whom had tragically been killed. Shura was rescued by the Areal ‘Live’ Dog Shelter.  On inspection by the Shelter vet Nina, it appeared someone had beaten Shura and in an act of unbelievable cruelty, had cut off her nipples. Thankfully this poor girl is at the safety of the Shelter now and despite all the terrible things that have happened to her, Shura loves and trusts people, licks their hands, wags her tail and loves all the puppies who live at the Shelter!   We live in hope that she will soon be adopted by a loving family.

Our friends from British charity Friends of Moldovan Strays (FOMS) have launched a GoFundMe donation appeal to help the wonderful dogs living at “Live” shelter. If you could spare a few pounds for a very worthy cause, please head to the donation page

Featured Dog: Bella

This gorgeous girl is the second dog that I’d like to write about and feature here on our blog. Like with Ooshka, she has been at the LIVE TNR dog shelter for as long as I have and is a favourite of many of the workers and volunteers there, including myself. Her name is Bella, and it is a very fitting name for her. She really is a beautiful dog and seems to be a fine example of a Border Collie or Welsh Sheep Dog, although her parents and history are unknown to us, as with many of the dogs that we take care of here. We estimate that she is 3 or 4 years old.

Bella is an affectionate dog who loves attention and occasionally loves to play as well. She is healthy and happy and has been spayed (sterilized). Normally this type of dog is used to working and so needs a lot of attention and exercise – Bella however is not typical in this sense. Almost every time that I see her she is lazing around, stretched out on the top of her kennel and she always wags her tail when she sees me approaching.

Bella Chilling

This video shows just how much Bella loves human attention. Every time that I pull my hand away she tries to bring it back with her paw. A remarkable show of love from a dog that has probably been mistreated on the streets before coming to our shelter.

If you can help us to find a loving home for Bella then please get in touch with us at the LIVE TNR shelter. You can send an email toStraydogsMD@gmail.com or you can call Natasha on+373 (0)79989969.

Until then Bella would like to say goodbye…
